Sunrise Confession
New poem
Homesick for places I’ve never been
Missing someone I’ve never known
In a sleeping town, a heart is weeping and bleeding
to a voice that chills us all
I’m going to hold onto you, for all it’s worth
because this Earth has spun out of control
and you’re all I see, all I can trust
The centre of this world is this bedroom
under the safety of blankets
our limbs and lips locked
we can fight this police state
with love and words
Words, raspy and warm
like the cardigan you wrap around me
they’ll echo through the battleground
and the flowers will bloom
I miss you more than anyone I’ve never known
